October 30, 2018

LONDON, 30 October 2018— Morningstar, Inc. (NASDAQ: MORN), a leading provider of independent investment research, today announced that Mark Roomans was appointed Head of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), effective immediately. In this newly created role, Roomans, who served as Chief Executive Officer for Morningstar UK, will establish an executive team for EMEA to drive growth in the region.

Daniel Dunn, Chief Revenue Officer, said, “We wanted to create a leadership role for the EMEA region that would link our regional markets with our global functions and business lines. Mark’s background as a strong operational leader and a well-regarded advocate for Morningstar in the region are all key factors supporting his appointment”. Tricia Rothschild, Chief Product Officer, added, “Mark has exemplary leadership, operational and product experience running our international offices, making him a great fit for this new, exciting multi-disciplinary role”.

“I have had the pleasure to be with Morningstar for the past 17 years and I am honoured to step into this new role as we focus on promoting growth on a global scale,” said Roomans. “This is an exciting time for the company as the heart of our business remains developing innovative solutions for investors”.

Roomans joined Morningstar in 2001, prior to which he was a quantitative analyst at JPMorgan Investment Management and Mercury Merrill Lynch Asset Management. He was previously Chief Operating Officer of Morningstar Europe and co-Chief Executive Officer of Morningstar Australia. Roomans has also served as Head of New Markets, establishing Morningstar’s operations in Mexico, Chile, Brazil, and the United Arab Emirates, and as Chief Executive Officer for Morningstar Spain and Morningstar Switzerland. Roomans has served as Chief Executive Officer for Morningstar UK since 2015.

Morningstar will start the search to replace the Head of Morningstar UK to serve as one of four EMEA region sub-leaders.
