This year’s Morningstar Investment Conference will bring together industry leaders and investing experts to explore cutting-edge research. Topics to be discussed include investment cycles, the future of active versus passive investing, trust in advisers, the outlook for UK equities in a higher interest rate environment and risk management.

“Facing a significant shift in monetary policy and stagnating economic growth, as well as recent volatility in the banking sector, investors in 2023 are contending with an increasingly complex market environment,” said Connor Sloman, Managing Director of Morningstar UK. “The Morningstar Investment Conference is a unique forum to provide greater investor clarity via insights from leading analysts and market participants in the asset management industry.”

‘How do higher interest rates affect the outlook for the UK Equity Market?’ The UK market has been cheap for a while, but it is frequently described as a value trap. Given the change in the interest rate environment, this talk will discuss the threat of value traps from the perspective of both balance sheets and the competitive outlook.

Sustainable Funds: Are labels helping investors and the solution to greenwashing? One of the top priorities of financial regulators is to combat greenwashing. With the UK regulator planning to introduce its own purpose-built labelling system, this discussion will explore what’s working, what isn’t, and what needs to change to help investors make better-informed choices.

Active versus passive investing – what does the future hold? A panel of experts will explore the role of active investing during a period of high outflows.
