Global leaders to gather in Amsterdam to explore climate commitments and real-world action, amongst other crucial topics for institutional investors and asset owners.
AMSTERDAM, 10 September 2026 – Morningstar Europe Limited, a subsidiary of Morningstar, Inc. (NASDAQ: MORN) and leading provider of independent investment insights, has announced the agenda for the Morningstar Sustainable Investing Summit to be held on 2-3 February 2027 at Beurs van Berlage, Amsterdam.
Set against the theme "Focus on What Matters", this year's summit will examine whether sustainable investing can move from commitment to proof. Institutional investors face a widening gap between the climate ambitions they've set and the real-world outcomes they can actually deliver. Right now, asset owners are being asked to close that gap.
That test runs through every part of the agenda. On regulation, the summit asks what happens when the compliance frameworks asset owners have built entire programmes around are tested by changing political priorities and regulation. On accountability, it will explore whether stewardship and voting are driving genuine change, or whether they risk simply generating paperwork and political backlash. On private markets, it confronts an important question: with private capital having passed 14.5 trillion dollars and heading toward 20 trillion, is there a consistent answer to what sustainable investing means outside the public markets?
The event will gather institutional investors, global thought leaders, and academics for two days of data-driven insight and discussion. Sessions will explore business ethics, nature and physical climate risk, sustainable investing in private markets, stewardship and voting, regulatory change, the demands of AI, and the transition to a more sustainable economy.

The Chief Investment Officer Panel – Sustainable Investing in a Fractured World: Moderated by Monika Calay, investment leaders from M&G, IFM and Morgan Stanley Investment Management will discuss the energy demands of the AI boom, the outlook for the energy transition and the place of defence in sustainable portfolios.
Climate Investing in the Private Capital Ecosystem: Anikka Villegas will examine how economic, geopolitical and technological change is reshaping climate investing across venture capital, private equity and infrastructure, and where private markets can help support the transition to a more sustainable economy.
From Commitment to Impact – Real-World Climate Action at Leading European Pension Funds: Moderated by Catalina Secreteanu, senior investment leaders will consider where capital is most needed, how stewardship and engagement can support change, and what it will take to mobilise investment into the economy.
