Morningstar Announces Winners for 2023 Morningstar Fund Awards - China

SHENZHEN, 31 March 2023 -- Morningstar, Inc.(NASDAQ: MORN), a leading provider of independent investment research, today announced the winners for the 2023 Morningstar Fund Awards - China.

The awards recognise those funds that have served investors well over the long term and which Morningstar’s Manager Research team believes will be able to deliver strong risk-adjusted returns over time.

The Morningstar (China) Annual Fund Awards selects the open-end funds established with the approval of the China Securities Regulatory Commission which have a performance history of more than three years by the end of 2022, and the number of funds in the same category is not less than 10. The selection criteria for fund awards include both quantitative screening and qualitative evaluation.

“The Morningstar Fund Awards commends funds that served investors well by delivering top notch risk-adjusted performance for investors in 2022 and over longer time periods. Morningstar’s manager research team have used Morningstar’s extensive datasets and quantitative methodology to determine the winners across equity, fixed income, and multi-asset categories within China for investors,” said Rachel Wang, director of manager research, China, Morningstar.

Apart from the risk adjusted return in the most recent year, the fund award methodology also emphasises the strong risk-adjusted returns over the last two and three years. Both the standard deviation and downside volatility are considered in the annual quantitative assessment. The qualitative assessment covers the stability of fund managers and the management team, the consistency of the portfolio and investment strategies, as well as the level of compliance.
